Dr. Tamer Wassef

MD

Dr. Wassef is a board-certified psychiatrist, specializing in adult psychiatry. Dr. Wassef completed his fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 15 years of experience in Treating mental illness and addiction . He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for addiction and general psychiatry. , He is also board certified in addiction medicine. He also has the distinction of being a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He was serving as Chief of Psychiatry and chairman for psychiatry department at RWJ Barnabas Somerville Hospital. Dr. Wassef has lectured nationally on resistant depression, substance abuse treatment and pain management in chemically dependent patients, and has published several journal articles on severe anxiety, bipolar treatment and treatment of chronic resistant depression.

Dr. Benjamin Crocker

MD

 

Benjamin Crocker, MC, MRC, is a board-certified Psychiatrist with over 45 years of experience following his graduation from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1979. He specializes in treating anxiety disorders and is certified in Addiction medicine, making him a valuable asset to the Guardian Recovery team. Dr. Crocker expertly combines behavior therapy and psychiatric medication management with a personalized approach for each client. He believes that successful treatment requires meticulous attention to detail and a collaborative partnership between provider and patient. Dr. Crocker is passionate about helping individuals navigate their recovery journey, bringing his extensive expertise and compassionate care to those seeking hope and healing from substance use and mental health disorders.

Sarah McVicar

LCPC, LADC

Sarah received her MS in Co-occurring Disorders Recovery Counseling from Metropolitan State University. She draws on her experience working in outpatient and community-based settings with funny, resilient, and courageous individuals with a wide range of co-occurring substance use, trauma-related, and other mental health disorders. Prior to becoming a therapist, Sarah served as a Recovery Navigator and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).

 

Aronson Kobacker

Executive Director, MRC, CADC

Aronson Kobacker, MRC, CADC, serves as a Clinical Specialist at Guardian Recovery, bringing specialized expertise in treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. With a strong foundation from Northeastern University and professional experience in Health and Human Services since 2015, Aronson applies evidence-based modern modalities to help clients overcome complex mental health challenges. He has developed particular skill in identifying individualized treatment pathways, recognizing that recovery looks different for each person. Aronson is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care that addresses both substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. His patient-centered approach emphasizes hope and healing, helping clients discover their own unique path to lasting recovery and improved quality of life.

Emily Curto

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
PMHNP

Emily is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) at Bishop. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of New England (2016) and Master of Science in Nursing from Husson University (2023). Drawing on her experience in emergency medicine and community mental health, Emily specializes in comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnosis, and medication management for clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. She embraces a collaborative, patient-centered approach that empowers individuals on their recovery journey. Emily is deeply committed to providing compassionate care that addresses both immediate needs and long-term wellness, helping clients find hope and sustainable paths to healing.

Melissa White

Clinical Supervisor
MS, LCPC, CADC, CCS

Melissa White serves as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) with credentials as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). With over 17 years in behavioral health and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, she brings expertise in DBT and CBT while incorporating trauma-informed and mindfulness-based approaches. Melissa specializes in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through a holistic, person-centered lens. Her background spans community mental health, crisis intervention, and intensive outpatient services, enabling her to provide comprehensive clinical oversight and mentorship. She creates safe, validating environments where individuals can develop insight and effective coping strategies. Melissa believes in a collaborative recovery approach, viewing each client as the expert in their own journey while providing compassionate guidance toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Kyli Day

CLINICAL DIRECTOR
MS, LCPC, LPC-S, CCS

Kyli Day, MS, LCPC, LPC-S, CCS, serves as Clinical Director at Guardian Recovery, providing oversight for the Bishop Health Maine program. With a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and ongoing studies at Harvard Medical School in Clinical Service Operations, she brings diverse experience from community mental health, private practice, and residential treatment settings. Licensed in Maine and Colorado, Kyli specializes in treating co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. As a certified clinical supervisor, she is passionate about developing future mental health professionals while ensuring clients receive compassionate, effective care on their journey to recovery. Her dedication to helping individuals find hope and healing drives her commitment to clinical excellence at Guardian Recovery.

Bobby Taylor

LMSW-CC, LADC

Bobby received his master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of New England in 2022 after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern Maine. With experience in emergency medical services, mental health, child and family services, and substance use, Bobby believes in autonomy and a client-centered approach. He focuses on present feelings, emotions, and circumstances in pursuit of balance and fulfillment by using a person-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused approach while using a variety of coping skills from CBT and DBT.

Allison Hart

LCPC, CADC

Allison received her MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2015. With over 17 years of field experience, Allison believes that the client is the expert on themselves and sees her role as that of a facilitator, guide, and teacher.

Mary Kate Fitzgerald

TMS TECHNICIAN

MK moved to Maine in 2021 to begin working in the mental health and substance abuse fields. After teaching high school for most of her twenties, MK realized her true passion lies in helping others find relief from their mental health and addiction struggles. MK is a certified TMS technician, will be obtaining a Master’s in Social Work.  She aims to bring her skill set to schools and adolescents.
